The Perfect Acai Bowl with Vegan Granola

What is Acai?

The acai (ah-sigh-EE) berry is a grape-like fruit that is harvested from the rainforests of South America. Acai is well known as a super food and contains lots of fiber and more antioxidants than the traditional berry. They can be consumed through powders, juices, or tablets, but the best way to eat acai is in a smoothie bowl!

How To Make an Acai Bowl

There are a few ways that you can make an acai smoothie bowl. You can buy acai juice from your local grocery store and throw it in the blender with ice, bananas, and your favorite plant-based milk. There are also frozen acai packets you can find in the freezer aisle that you can drop right in your blender with plant-based milk. Makes it so easy!

The best acai bowls have a ton of toppings, so feel free to use whatever fruits, nuts, and seeds you like (or have on hand). The only topping we strongly recommend is Ocean Ranch Organic Original Grainless Granola. It’s free of refined sugar and sweetened with date syrup, so it’s vegan. It’s made with a seed blend, so it’s also wheat/gluten free as well!

Here’s a recipe for how to make the best vegan acai bowl with vegan granola:

VEGAN ACAI BOWL WITH VEGAN GRANOLA

(2 servings)

2 pouches of Sambazon Original Blend Frozen Acaí Packets

1 whole organic banana, peeled

½ cup organic coconut milk (or any organic plant based milk)

½ cup Ocean Ranch Organic Original Grainless Granola

¼ cup organic strawberries, sliced

¼ cup organic blueberries

Optional:

1 tbsp organic chia seeds

1 tbsp organic hemp seeds

Using a high-powered blender, drop in the 2 pouches of frozen acai packets, add the banana, and then add in the plant based milk. Blend on high, adding a splash of milk when needed. The desired consistency for an acai bowl is thick, but not chunky. If you add too much liquid, it will be more of a drinkable smoothie and not as easily eaten with a spoon. To thicken it up, you can add more banana or some frozen fruit if you have any on hand.

Once the smoothie is to a thickness that you like, spoon it into a bowl. Add fresh fruit and top with Ocean Ranch Organics Original Grainless Granola, chia seeds, and hemp seeds. Enjoy!
